Kidepo Valley National Park – True African Wilderness

Kidepo Valley National Park is Uganda’s remotes but offers breath taking savannah landscapes, which end in rugged mountains of the Sudan. The landscape throughout the park is studied with small hills, rocky outcrops and inselbergs from which one can enjoy magnificent views of the park. It has abundant wildlife including many animals which are not in Uganda’s other parks. This park is dominated by the 2,750m Mount Morungole.

The vegetation is mainly tree Savannah which varies much in structure and composition. Mountain forest dominates some of the high places, while areas along the Lorupei River support dense Acacia Geradi forest.

Biodiversity: The wildlife of this park is more typical of Kenya than Uganda with 77 mammal species including the Lions, Cheetah, Bat-eared Fox, Zebras, Elephants, Pygmie crocodiles and almost 500 bird species.

Size: 1, 442 sq. km

Location: In the Karamoja region of Northern Uganda, and boarders with Sudan and Kenya.
